Premio Georg Forster 2021, Catedrática Humboldt 2021 y premio a mejor investigadora de la Universidad de Costa Rica por sus aportes en política social comparada y regímenes de bienestar en América Latina. Trabaja desde el Centro de Investigaciones y Estudios Políticos y el Instituto de Investigaciones Sociales. Es docente de la Escuela de Ciencias Políticas y coeditora de Social Politics.
Ha sido profesora visitante Fullbright, el Instituto Kellogg los Estudios Internacionales en Estados Unidos y el Instituto de Estudios Latinoamericanos de la Freie Universitat en Berlín, entre otros centros internacionales.
Su libro más reciente, escrito con Diego Sánchez-Ancochea, es La búsqueda de la política social universal: Actores, ideas y arquitecturas (Universidad de Costa Rica, 2019; en inglés por Cambridge University Press, 2016).
Como Catedrática Humboldt y en conjunto con Diego Sánchez-Ancochea, actualmente investiga las oportunidades de transformar la crisis del COVID19 en política social inclusiva en Centroamérica. Con Merike Blofield (Instituto GIGA) analiza actualmente la protección social de familias con niños/as en América Latina durante la pandemia de COVID-19.

Georg Forster Awardee 2021, Humboldt Professor 2021 and award for best researcher at the University of Costa Rica for her contribution to comparative social policies and welfare regimes. She is based at the Research Center on Political Studies and the Institute for Social Research. She teaches at the School of Political Sciences and co-edits Social Politics.
She has been a Fulbright fellow, visiting professor at the Kellogg Institute for International Studies in the United States and at the Institute for Latin American Studies at the Freie Universitat in Berlin, among other international centers.
Her most recent book, written with Diego Sánchez-Ancochea, is The Search for Universal Social Policy: Actors, Ideas and Architectures (Cambridge University Press, 2016; in Spanish by the University of Costa Rica Press, 2019).
As Humboldt chair, together with Diego Sánchez-Ancochea (University of Oxford), she currently researches opportunities to transform the COVID19 crisis into inclusive social policy in Central America. With Merike Blofield (GIGA Institute) she currently studies the social protection of families with children in Latin America during the COVID19 pandemic.
